The article aims to provide an overview and literature review of the most recent developments in the revived philosophical-political debate on work, referring to the research of scholars including Dejours, Ferreras, Fraser, Honneth, Jaeggi, Renault, Battilana, Méda, Lordon, Virno, and Negri. It will present some of the major transformations of work which have taken place in the last few decades of neoliberal globalisation, including the multiplication of labour and the increasing role of reproductive labour, migration and knowledge. It will then discuss some analyses of work-related suffering and alienation in contemporary work. Finally, it will review the theoretical debates on the political challenges posed by the new scenario, focusing on the issues of the democratisation of work, post-work imaginaries and the power of living labour.
