This article explores the concept of « work (travail) » in Michel Foucault's writings, in order to show how the notion of « subjected work » - whose apparatus was highlighted by the philosopher in his research of the 1970s - is joined and countered by that of « subjectivising work » in his later writings. By discussing this re-signification, I intend to contribute to the critical reading of « workism » and to shed light on the inner tensions of a concept which plays a key role in the framing of personal identities and political relationships in contemporary Western societies.

Abstract
This article explores the concept of « work (travail) » in Michel Foucault's writings, in order to show how the notion of « subjected work » - whose apparatus was highlighted by the philosopher in his research of the 1970s - is joined and countered by that of « subjectivising work » in his later writings. By discussing this re-signification, I intend to contribute to the critical reading of « workism » and to shed light on the inner tensions of a concept which plays a key role in the framing of personal identities and political relationships in contemporary Western societies.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione
