Abstract
The Italian reformed exiles in the Geneva of Calvino expressed, in the pref- aces of some translations of the Bible, an anti-Tuscan position on the question of language, dictated above all by ethical reasons and by the criticism against the ar- tificial, affected and archaizing use of the vulgar Italian. For the first time here is given the testimony of another source, the Italian grammar by Scipione Lentolo, written in Latin and published in Geneva in 1567, which indicates on a case by case basis the Tuscan forms to avoid in order not to fall in the vice of affectation.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
