In the first chapter of Aristotle's Metaphysics book Lambda (1069a32), an indication of interest about elements of heavenly bodies has been frequently neglected by scholars. This is due to the fact that the Greek text was crucially modified by editors at ch. 1, lines 1069a30-33. The Author, who recently published a new critical edition of the book (Naples, Bibliopolis 2012) is now concerned with Aristotle's argument about the kind of peculiar matter heavenly bodies ought to have, as mentioned in ch. 2, 1069b26f.

Abstract

In the first chapter of Aristotle's Metaphysics book Lambda (1069a32), an indication of interest about elements of heavenly bodies has been frequently neglected by scholars. This is due to the fact that the Greek text was crucially modified by editors at ch. 1, lines 1069a30-33. The Author, who recently published a new critical edition of the book (Naples, Bibliopolis 2012) is now concerned with Aristotle's argument about the kind of peculiar matter heavenly bodies ought to have, as mentioned in ch. 2, 1069b26f.
