Abstract

The electronuclear longitudinal response is studied in a large class of nuclei. Medium weight as well as heavy nuclei axe considered. Beyond mean field effects short range correlations are taken into account by means of a local density approach. They are responsible for a decrease of the response up to 15% in the quasielastic region. The amount of quenching is proportional to the average proton density reaching its maximum for medium heavy nuclei.
