Part I of “The Mies van der Rohe Archive” contains a series of sketches for the Mountain House that Mies conceived in 1934 as a speculative study, with no intention ever of building it. He took as the site of the imaginary house a plateau that lay at the end of a mountain pass. Through this project we will explore some aspects of the drawing as a theoretical and operational tool of design from what Mies called the scope of defining, or the “defining rather than depicting architectural spaces”.

Abstract
Part I of “The Mies van der Rohe Archive” contains a series of sketches for the Mountain House that Mies conceived in 1934 as a speculative study, with no intention ever of building it. He took as the site of the imaginary house a plateau that lay at the end of a mountain pass. Through this project we will explore some aspects of the drawing as a theoretical and operational tool of design from what Mies called the scope of defining, or the “defining rather than depicting architectural spaces”.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
