This Research Bulletin presents TespaTrad, a digital database cataloging translations of Spanish Golden Age theater across thirty-six languages, spanning the second half of the sixteenth through the twentieth century. In so doing, the research portal allows scholars and students of theater to research the global circulation and cultural impact of Spanish classical drama. Financed by Italy's Ministero dell'Università e della Ricerca (Fausta Antonucci, principal investigator), TespaTradbuilds upon existing online databases, particularly Artelopeand Calderón Digital, while addressing the specific challenges of translation studies. TespaTraddistinguishes between historicaltranslations (before 1800) and modernones (after 1800), with each category presenting specific methodological challenges. A key facet of the project is how it draws on a collaborative international network of theater specialists to ensure comprehensive coverage across diverse linguistic and cultural contexts. The author details TespaTrad's advanced search capabilities, geographical mapping functions, and detailed cataloging systems that accommodate various translation typologies including literary translations, stage adaptations, rewritings, and intertextual fragments.
