L'almanacco Mnemozina (1824-1825): un periodico "europeo" tra letteratura e filosofia

Two centuries after its publication, the almanac Mnemozina (1824–1825) continues to attract scholarly interest for the role it played in the renewal of Russian periodical literature. Originating from an initiative by Wilhelm Küchelbecker and Vladimir Odoevsky, the publication aligned with the tradition of civic poetry charac- teristic of the so-called “Decembrist almanacs”, while placing particular emphasis on the defense of the autonomy of Russian letters from prevailing foreign models, especial- ly French ones. At the same time, Mnemozina drew inspiration from German almanacs and sought to introduce innovative concepts and ideas - particularly in the philosophi- cal domain - into the Russian press. The choice of the almanac format, often interpret- ed merely as a strategic move to bypass censorship, in fact reflected a clear plan: to pro- pose an integrated vision of knowledge and artistic experience, thereby establishing a paradigm of cultural dissemination capable of engaging a broad and diverse readership.
