Considering the relevance given by José Saramago to the epigraphs, we propose to analyze Que farei com este livro? from the epigraph of the play: the last three verses of the song VI by Luís de Camões. This verses read through the literary context of the seventies of the twentieth century include notions such as echo, exile and writing. Historical theater of Brechtian influence, this play fictionalizes two years in the life of Luís de Camões, representing the different situations that the poet faced when trying to publish Os Lusíadas clearly alluding to the Estado Novo period, the recent past in which the play was written (1980).
