Starting from the discussion of the Adanis’ cases, the article will comment on the interplay between companies’ business practices, good governance, and sustainability. The cases pending before the US Courts, and involving the controlling shareholder and the executive director of the Indian company Adani Green and some senior executives connected to them, unveil contradictions of the current ‘sustainability race’, whereby the development of affordable and clean energy and the fight against climate change may clash with other sustainable development aspects, notably good governance and the rule of law.
