The paper aims at outlining the most significant trends concerning the modernization of the legal regulation of State-Owned Enteprises (SOEs) within the context of the economic integration in Southeast Asia, within the ASEAN area. In doing so, the paper takes Indonesian enterprise law as an example in order to assess how the evolution of post-colonial commercial law led to the diversification of legal regimes for SOEs in close connection with their function as agents of national development. The new legal frameworks, therefore, interact with the harmonization effort carried out at the supranational level, dealing with complex sets of development values underlying economic cooperation strategies, which do not necessarily fit with certain instances of economic nationalism. The measurement of the concrete impact of supranational integration over national enterprise law has therefore the purpose to highlight the degree of legal harmonization put in place by ASEAN as well as the emergence of original and coordinated development models in Southeast Asia.
