These days, the evolution of technology is transforming the way we perceive the world. More and more companies are having the opportunity to improve efficiency and safety by adopting new technologies, particularly in the realm of extended reality and the digitalization of 3D content. Arcoda is a company specialized in cartography applications as its core business. These applications typically consist of a map with digital content overlaid, such as markers representing the location of points of interest, such as cars or electric cabins. Arcoda sees extended reality as the natural evolution of its product. Transitioning from map-based visualization to overlaying digital content directly onto the real world offers multiple benefits. The most exciting advantage is the ability to reconstruct 3D contents and interact with them directly in real-world spaces. The focus of this thesis is to address the current challenges in industrializing these technologies. After identifying the specific requirements of the company’s use cases, the next step is to develop solutions that meet these needs. Specifically, we will explore the following key areas: experimenting with smart glasses and mixed reality for industrial use cases; identifying algorithms for spatial calibration and temporal synchronization between two devices for 3D georeferenced data acquisition and augmented reality purposes; and conducting a qualitative analysis of 3D reconstruction algorithms
