Il complesso dello Spirito Santo a Napoli: l'intervento di Marcello Canino

The essay examines the building of the Faculty of Architecture in Naples, a work by the Neapolitan architect Marcello Canino, dean of the faculty in between the '40s and '50s of the twentieth century. The project is the result of a revamping work of a sixteenth-century religious complex, remodelled in the Baroque period. The Conservatory in the twentieth century housed accommodation and conditions of the building felt the weight of centuries. It was therefore decided to intervene demolishing much of what was left of the old complex and the new project was entrusted to Marcello Canino. The analysis is performed on historical and compositional plan, in the form of direct comparison between the previous religious building and the new building, by searching for analogies and references.
