Pre-Hellenistic philological discourse differs fundamentally from Alexandrian and Roman not at the level of the evolutionary scale, but qualitatively, in terms of its unique genre multidisciplinarity and intermediality. This paper argues that in the context of this diversity of genres and media, comedy has played a crucial and unique role in the construction of philological thought. Scholarly concepts, scholarly vocabulary and their intersections on synchronic and diachronic levels have been embodied on stage and closely intertwined with the growing public interest in philological studies.

Abstract
Pre-Hellenistic philological discourse differs fundamentally from Alexandrian and Roman not at the level of the evolutionary scale, but qualitatively, in terms of its unique genre multidisciplinarity and intermediality. This paper argues that in the context of this diversity of genres and media, comedy has played a crucial and unique role in the construction of philological thought. Scholarly concepts, scholarly vocabulary and their intersections on synchronic and diachronic levels have been embodied on stage and closely intertwined with the growing public interest in philological studies.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione
