Drawing on the recent French publication of a collection of his essays, this article provides an overview of Paolo Fabbri’s contribution to the semiotics of art, focusing on the form of elocution he adopts and the way he approaches the analysis of works of art. Placing his work in the context of the evolution of art semiotics, the book bears witness to the author’s attention to a dynamic conception of semiotics that includes the phenomenal and rhetorical dimensions of aesthetic discourse and the problematic of the questioning of meaning.
