The article analyzes the elements of classical inspiration in Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, a 2008 science fiction novel, that revisits in a post-apocalyptic future the Greek myth of Theseus and the Minotaur, but also shows connections with Roman gladiatorial games and the story of Spartacus. Particularly interesting is the use of Latin names, taken from the Roman plays of Shakespeare (Julius Caesar, Antony and Cleopatra, Coriolanus).
