The article analyzes some modern theatrical rewritings, which confine the protagonists of Greek tragedy in mental hospitals, isolating them from society in order to bring about their healing or repentance. The aim is to show how the modern age sometimes charges to madness actions and anxieties of characters that for Greek tragedy were not crazy at all, such as Oedipus, Clytemnestra and Medea.
