Eine silbervergoldete Fibel der Völkerwanderungszeit von der Piazza Alessandro Vittoria in Trient

The article presents a gilded silver brooch discovered in 1923 on Piazza Alessandro Vittoria in Trent. The site is situated in the south of the Roman city wall and not far from the early Christian sepulchral basilica. In the past, different hypotheses have been made regarding the date and the cultural background of the brooch. This article suggests that it was an Alemannic production and made between 460/470 and 480/490 using Elb-Germanics, late Romans and Danubian stylistic elements. It is likely that the owner of the brooch was a woman of Transalpine origin, who had come to Trent at the beginning of the 6th century thanks to the Theoderic’s welcoming policies towards the Alemannic refugees.
