Notwithstanding the above, the original conclusions presented in the paper can still be drawn.

Abstract
It is with regret that we have found the phase shifter [Formula presented] missing in the second term of Eq. (21). Consequently Eqs. (21), (22) and (23a&b) are replaced by [Formula presented] [Formula presented] [Formula presented] [Formula presented] Figs. 5–10 and 16, 17 are affected and thus replaced herein. [Figure presented] The most significant changes are observed in Fig. 6 for the vertical amplification factor for sandy soil, and Fig. 16 for the horizontal amplification factor when compared with the experimental measurements. For Fig. 6(a), the shear wave contribution is now only slightly greater than the compressional wave contribution at very low frequencies; for the unwrapped phase plot in Fig. 16, it is now seen that not only the phase gradient of the radial shear wave component matches the prediction and the measurement but the actual unwrapped phase (note here that a phase of 2π has been subtracted from the measured data) reinforcing our original statement that, in this case, the shear wave controls the phase response. Notwithstanding the above, the original conclusions presented in the paper can still be drawn.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
