La costruzione della comunità internazionale nel pensiero di Martin Buber

The paper investigates Martin Buber’s reflections on the notion of community. It follows the evolution of Buber’s thought, starting from the pre-war idea of a Jewish Gemeinschaft des Blutes, then passing from socialist and pacifist communitarianism (after the ye- ars of the October Revolution), up to the commitment for a peaceful and equal integration between Jews and Palestinians, intended to be an alternative model to the European imperialist-colonial one. The essay aims to give a portrait of Buber’s “believing humanism,” which is committed to reconciling the cultural and religious identity of the Jewish community, always troubled and marked by the tension between election and exclusion, and the socialist vocation to build harmony between peoples.
