These elements of interplay are identified using interview data and from the ongoing observation of interplay practice in music schools. The paper then uses the features of interplay to identifies a specific form of cooperation which provides a benchmark for organisations to assess their generating and supporting potential for creativeness and self-actualising persons. Abstract

The main driver for this paper is to consider ways in which supervision and coaching can foster cooperation and foster creativity and self-actualisation of people I explain cooperation by building a parallel with interplay, a concept taken from music, and contextualise it within the notion of creative space, characterised by inclusivity, openness and multiple centres of creative power. These elements of interplay are identified using interview data and from the ongoing observation of interplay practice in music schools. The paper then uses the features of interplay to identifies a specific form of cooperation which provides a benchmark for organisations to assess their generating and supporting potential for creativeness and self-actualising persons. Implications for supervision and coaching are derived.
