The aim of the article is first of all to delineate how the First World War affected the personal and intellectual biography of Edmund Husserl. Secondly, to analyze the theoretical framework within which, moving from the experience of war, he tried to think the relationship between transcendental subject, (German) nation, Europe, and humanity.

Scopo dell'articolo è, in primo luogo, delineare in quali termini la prima guerra mondiale incise sulla biografia personale e intellettuale di Edmund Husserl; in secondo luogo, analizzare la cornice teoretica all'interno della quale, a partire dall'esperienza della guerra, egli si sforzò di pensare il rapporto fra soggetto trascendentale, nazione (tedesca), Europa e umanità
