Religione e canonizzazione delle norme: tra Overbeck e Weber

“With the canonization the writings become eternal standards”, says Franz Overbeck: the process of “canonization” of the rules acquires great significance for the consolidation of the link between charisma and power, orthodoxy and orthopraxis, “communis opinio” and “ratio scripta”. Overbeck’s reflection on “canonization of the rules and writings” is therefore intended to meet with the discussion of Max Weber on power; the evolution to the tradition depends on the characteristics of the professional class that is in charge of the canonization’s tasks. The canonization’s process results in an institutional sacralisation deputy to the storage, transmission and propagation of the canon itself.
