In the overview of the Krieg der Geister, the “war of the spirits” that during the Great War saw many leading intellectuals of the time enter the field to support the justifications of their respective countries with their ideas, Henri Bergson without doubt occupies a prominent position. In his écrits de guerre – which often are the texts of vehement public speeches – he interprets the war in the light of the cornerstones of his philosophy (beginning with the distinction between spirit and matter), but along with these, also widely used some of the Leitmotive of anti-German propaganda (such as that of the confrontation between civilization and barbarism).

Abstract
In the overview of the Krieg der Geister, the “war of the spirits” that during the Great War saw many leading intellectuals of the time enter the field to support the justifications of their respective countries with their ideas, Henri Bergson without doubt occupies a prominent position. In his écrits de guerre – which often are the texts of vehement public speeches – he interprets the war in the light of the cornerstones of his philosophy (beginning with the distinction between spirit and matter), but along with these, also widely used some of the Leitmotive of anti-German propaganda (such as that of the confrontation between civilization and barbarism).File | Dimensione | Formato | |
