The paper discuss implication of Information Technologies in personal communications and by means of an empirical research carried on among students focuses on the aspects related with privacy and individual evaluation of social control and norm infringement in computer mediated communications (CMC). Knowing more about the individual and social preferences in privacy control and awareness inside personal communication scenario is relevant for a) research reasons as an aid for developing devices and measures for privacy protection, and b) for institutional reasons in order to evaluate current practices and social applications of IT available to the public, such as in E-government.
