Acting in synchrony characterizes many expressions of human sociality. The present review focuses on a recent line of research in Social Psychology which showed that interpersonal synchrony can not only communicate a sense of unity but it can also induce a series of social and affective outcomes. Social and cognitive factors that could moderate the spontaneous emerging of interpersonal synchrony are considered. Moreover, the mechanisms linking synchronous bodily experiences to social perception are examined. Finally, the theoretical and social implications of this recent line of research are discussed.

Abstract
Acting in synchrony characterizes many expressions of human sociality. The present review focuses on a recent line of research in Social Psychology which showed that interpersonal synchrony can not only communicate a sense of unity but it can also induce a series of social and affective outcomes. Social and cognitive factors that could moderate the spontaneous emerging of interpersonal synchrony are considered. Moreover, the mechanisms linking synchronous bodily experiences to social perception are examined. Finally, the theoretical and social implications of this recent line of research are discussed.File in questo prodotto:
