La disciplina regionale dei centri storici: caratteri e tendenze

The protection of historic centers reflects the need to preserve the memory of anthropic environment – even beyond its merely aesthetic value – and to deal with the abandonment by the inhabitants, due partially to economic reasons, partially to the search of a better quality of life. The regeneration of historic centers is desirable both on the cultural ground (because it allows to retrieve identities, which not seldom are disappearing), and on the economic ground (in order to strengthening the touristic vocation of charming places). However, because of the complexity of the interests involved, thorny implementation problems may arise. In the light of the lack of an exhaustive legislative landscape at the national level, the paper aims at critically analyze the regional statutes whose direct purposes are the protection and the enhancement of historic centers, to indicate the main convergences and divergences among them.
