This special issue of the Scandinavian Journal of Management is dedicated to a topic which is gaining increasing attention among organization and management scholars: ‘The body, the senses and knowing in organization.’ The purpose of this introductory article is to provide a short overview of the topic in the field of organization and management studies and to introduce the articles of this special issue. Furthermore, we also aim at opening up new directions for the investigation of embodied organizational phenomena by scrutinizing the prevalent assumptions on which “the body” is commonly built in the existing literature. Thus, to nurture the existing field of inquiry, our introductory article offers an extended view of this notion.
