Using stereotypes in travel journalism is a discourse strategy aimed at making it easier for readers to understand a reality they do not know. In this paper, we analyze a corpus of texts published by the Spanish magazine "Viajar" about Italian destinations. We compare texts written during the first years of the magazine’s existence (1978-1983) with more recent ones (1996-2009), thus highlighting the changes in the approach used by professionals in the field of tourism publishing.

Abstract
Using stereotypes in travel journalism is a discourse strategy aimed at making it easier for readers to understand a reality they do not know. In this paper, we analyze a corpus of texts published by the Spanish magazine "Viajar" about Italian destinations. We compare texts written during the first years of the magazine’s existence (1978-1983) with more recent ones (1996-2009), thus highlighting the changes in the approach used by professionals in the field of tourism publishing.File in questo prodotto:
