An innovative methodology for the design of correlator arrays for radio astronomy applications is presented. The technique exploits the low correlation properties of Almost Difference Sets (ADSs) to synthesize open-ended “Y” array configurations with maximum u-υ coverage both in snapshot and in tracking observations. A preliminary numerical validation is presented to assess the performances of the proposed method with respect to standard state-of-the-art solutions.

Abstract
An innovative methodology for the design of correlator arrays for radio astronomy applications is presented. The technique exploits the low correlation properties of Almost Difference Sets (ADSs) to synthesize open-ended “Y” array configurations with maximum u-υ coverage both in snapshot and in tracking observations. A preliminary numerical validation is presented to assess the performances of the proposed method with respect to standard state-of-the-art solutions.File in questo prodotto:
