The European landscape is radically and rapidly changing, due to the emergence of a network of so-called “low-cost airports” – secondary airports that low-cost companies are flying to – whose physical and social effects on the territory are beginning to be perceived. Starting from case studies, research is attempting to define and clarify what this new “airport urbanism” may mean. The aim is to analyze landscape changes in the areas immediately around secondary airports and infrastructural network development on a larger scale.
