Analytic techniques to the design of linear and planar thinned arrays with predictable and well-behaved sidelobes are presented in this paper. The element placement is based on almost difference sets and the array power pattern is forced to pass through a set of uniformly-spaced samples which are a-priori known. Such a property allows one to predict the peak sidelobe. Numerical examples are reported for both linear and planar array arrangements.

Abstract
Analytic techniques to the design of linear and planar thinned arrays with predictable and well-behaved sidelobes are presented in this paper. The element placement is based on almost difference sets and the array power pattern is forced to pass through a set of uniformly-spaced samples which are a-priori known. Such a property allows one to predict the peak sidelobe. Numerical examples are reported for both linear and planar array arrangements.File in questo prodotto:
