The paper is an account on the state of the reception of Aboriginal literature in Italy, within the author’s academic community and beyond. Indigenous Australian women’s autobiographies in English are the main focus of the receptive and interpretive processes illustrated in the paper. There are also references to the reception and critical examination of some of the most important writers of contemporary Aboriginal canon. The hermeneutical instruments of these readings range from Deleuze to Heidegger, from bell hooks to Audre Lorde, in a dialogic dimension which is meant to be inter-cultural and cross-cultural.
