The result of the study of the influence of composition and sintering conditions on LiMn2O4 structural and microstructural features are reported. The structural parameters have been refined by the Retveld method while the microstructural parameters were obtained both by a modified Rietveld approach and by a XRD line profile analysis (LPA) according to Williamson-Hall and the Warren-Averbach methods. It has been observed that a slight distortion must be present in stoichiometric spinel samples at room temperature (rt), close to the incipient Jahn-Teller (J-T) transition (about 280K). That may explain the strongly anisotropic microstructural features of the apparently cubic rt spinel.

Abstract
The result of the study of the influence of composition and sintering conditions on LiMn2O4 structural and microstructural features are reported. The structural parameters have been refined by the Retveld method while the microstructural parameters were obtained both by a modified Rietveld approach and by a XRD line profile analysis (LPA) according to Williamson-Hall and the Warren-Averbach methods. It has been observed that a slight distortion must be present in stoichiometric spinel samples at room temperature (rt), close to the incipient Jahn-Teller (J-T) transition (about 280K). That may explain the strongly anisotropic microstructural features of the apparently cubic rt spinel.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione
