This paper wants to provide a historical summary about the values and the credits that contemporary historical geography has obtained as a discipline and science, showing to be able to offer its contribution to ethical planning politics. These politics starts from individuation and interpretation of territorial identities, and they should preserve and improve the landscape peculiarities, changing those singularities in a development vehicle.
