This introductory chapter re-examines ongoing debates around resilience thinking and theorizing in the social sciences by integrating insights from multiple disciplinary perspectives. Furthermore, it takes stock of how resilience relates to other similar yet distinct “neighboring” constructs, as a means of demarking phenomenological boundaries and exploring methodological and operational synergies. Following this, the text provides an overview of the key contributions composing the heart of the edited volume and concludes by reflecting on the theoretical/scientific and practical/policy implications going forward.

Abstract
This introductory chapter re-examines ongoing debates around resilience thinking and theorizing in the social sciences by integrating insights from multiple disciplinary perspectives. Furthermore, it takes stock of how resilience relates to other similar yet distinct “neighboring” constructs, as a means of demarking phenomenological boundaries and exploring methodological and operational synergies. Following this, the text provides an overview of the key contributions composing the heart of the edited volume and concludes by reflecting on the theoretical/scientific and practical/policy implications going forward.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione
