The lex Aebutia was a Roman statute concerning legal procedure and, in particular, the formulary procedure (the per formulas procedure), very likely enacted at the end of the II century BCE. It gave the formulae, or, at least, the condictio certae creditae pecuniae, the same status as the legis actiones (actions-at-law) in the context of the ius civile. The lex Aebutia, therefore, represented an important step towards the definitive abolition of the actions-at-law that eventually took place with the enactment of the lex Iulia iudiciorum privatorum in 17 BCE.

Abstract
The lex Aebutia was a Roman statute concerning legal procedure and, in particular, the formulary procedure (the per formulas procedure), very likely enacted at the end of the II century BCE. It gave the formulae, or, at least, the condictio certae creditae pecuniae, the same status as the legis actiones (actions-at-law) in the context of the ius civile. The lex Aebutia, therefore, represented an important step towards the definitive abolition of the actions-at-law that eventually took place with the enactment of the lex Iulia iudiciorum privatorum in 17 BCE.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
