VinKiamo: un nuovo strumento per la documentazione, la valorizzazione e la promozione delle varietà linguistiche dell’arco alpino italiano

The main purpose of this paper is to discuss the characteristics and applicability of VinKiamo, a work-study program carried out in collaboration with secondary schools in the Alpine regions of Italy, with the aim of collecting linguistic data within the projects VinKo (Varieties in Contact) and AlpiLink (Alpine Languages in Contact) projects. In particular, we focus on the experience of VinKiamo in the province of Trento, describing the different phases of the project (training of students, recruitment of informants, final reports of students) and presenting the results of the fieldwork carried out between November 2023 and June 2024. We aim to show, among other things, that VinKiamo is particularly effective in increasing the number of informants and data available to linguists, and in promoting multilingualism among students and within their own linguistic communities. It also allows for a fine-grained representation of the micro-variation of linguistic phenomena.
