The paper offers some reflections developed within a topographical study about the territories of Corbetta e Albairate, in the western Province of Milan (Lombardy). Data from LiDAR DTM analysis and field survey, together with considerations based on the literature review, allow us to hypothesize different degrees of ancient landscape conservation and destruction of the archaeological record. Moreover, it is possible to reflect on the principal causes of such phoenomena. Within this framework, archaeological mapping plays a key role for research and for land and cultural heritage protection.
