RedOx behaviour of different half solid oxide fuel cells was investigated by monitoring in-situ the deformation associated to cyclic changes of the operative atmosphere. This characterization aimed to be a straightforward way to determine the RedOx stability of anodes with different composition and microstructure. The observed curvature depends on the internal stresses developed in the half cell upon cycling. It was observed that the stresses caused on an half cell during the volume change of Ni oxidizing into NiO produces the failure of the cell already after the first cycle. Also the formation of cracks in the electrolyte and the RedOx behaviour were correlated to the anode microstructure.
