Veronesische Renaissance-Gemälde aus dem Bestand der Kunsthandlung Julius Böhler

The present contribution gathers and highlights a number of purchases of Renaissance Veronese works of art by the Kunsthandlung Julius Böhler, ranging from painted chests to religious paintings. In some cases, their ownership by the Kunsthandlung Böhler had been already disclosed, but in others it has been revealed browsing the online Archive of this art dealership at Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte in Munich. As a result new details on the history of a number of paintings have been found out. The study of these works made it also possible to put forward new attributions of a Crucifixion and a Madonna and Child, formerly attributed to the Veronese painters Domenico Morone and Giovan Francesco Caroto. The first painting has been assigned here to the Veronese Francesco Benaglio and the latter to Mantuan Giovan Francesco Tura.
