In the last years the Eurasian Economic Union has been under scholarly examination to grasp whether it represents yet another exercise of regional institution-building with no actual integration results or whether it has served as a trigger in terms of regional governance. The chapter focuses on the extent to which concepts such as “authoritarian regionalism” as well as regime-boosting regionalism and protective integration might help better understanding the design and functioning of the EAEU; in particular, how a regime security agenda put forward by the EAEU’s member states is reflected in their ability and willingness to cooperate at the regional level.

Abstract
In the last years the Eurasian Economic Union has been under scholarly examination to grasp whether it represents yet another exercise of regional institution-building with no actual integration results or whether it has served as a trigger in terms of regional governance. The chapter focuses on the extent to which concepts such as “authoritarian regionalism” as well as regime-boosting regionalism and protective integration might help better understanding the design and functioning of the EAEU; in particular, how a regime security agenda put forward by the EAEU’s member states is reflected in their ability and willingness to cooperate at the regional level.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione
