Renewable Energy Communities (RECs) are instrumental for the integration of distributed-connected renewable plants. This paper analyses different connection schemes and policy options for the integration of battery storage assets in Italian RECs. The work aims at assessing economic results, i.e. the storage contribution to the REC’s revenue, and technical results, i.e. the presence of reverse power flows and the storage capacity fade due to cyclic operation.

Abstract

Renewable Energy Communities (RECs) are instrumental for the integration of distributed-connected renewable plants.
