La Lettera del tradurre (Sendbrief vom Dolmetschen) di Lutero: lingua illustre, lingua comune e la retorica della traduzione

In the context of Luther’s translation of the New Testament (September - testament, 1522), the Sendbrief vom Dolmetschen (1530) is often cited, making it a myth passed down through a series of quotations, also linked to the dichotomy (or dialectic) of illustrious language-common language. This paper takes a closer look at the Sendbrief and places it in its specific historical context. The content and intention of the text, its intertextuality and rhetorical structure are presented on the basis of selected passages, highlighting the intertwining of Reformation theology and rhetorical strategy.
