This study aims at analysing the three Old Swedish redactions of the collection of stories known as "Septem Sapientes" against the theoretical and methodological backdrop of Translation Studies. After discussing the question of the identification of the source texts from which the three Old Swedish redactions (known as A,B,C) have been translated, the analysis focuses on the translation strategy of each redaction. The degree of rewriting of the source text which can be observed in A, B, and C is assessed against the background of the information provided by the analysis of the vehicles of transmission of the Old Swedish tradition, especially as regards the social composition of the audience of the texts.

Abstract
This study aims at analysing the three Old Swedish redactions of the collection of stories known as "Septem Sapientes" against the theoretical and methodological backdrop of Translation Studies. After discussing the question of the identification of the source texts from which the three Old Swedish redactions (known as A,B,C) have been translated, the analysis focuses on the translation strategy of each redaction. The degree of rewriting of the source text which can be observed in A, B, and C is assessed against the background of the information provided by the analysis of the vehicles of transmission of the Old Swedish tradition, especially as regards the social composition of the audience of the texts.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione
