Abstract
Developed almost in opposition to previous production from the Renaissance onwards, modern art abandoned the Albertian model of representation and was acknowledged for overcoming an organisation of space considered as unchanging and homogenous. It might even be recognised as having introduced new aesthetic perceptions and conceptions of space. Yet, it is appropriate to nuance these statements and the alleged break with previous achievements. A certain continuity can indeed be found in the exploration of spatiality, beyond the changes that have occurred. In particular, the exploitation of several perspective techniques demonstrates the practice of articulated and heterogeneous spaces throughout the centuries. Through an insight into the theories of space in art, the actual uses of various types of perspective and the interlocking of inconsistant spaces, this study aims to contribute to a semiotic analysis of the complexity of works of art.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione
