In his art, Paul Klee wanted to render the “living form”. His pictorial work as well his theoretical writings show a far-reaching search regarding the dynamisms of forms: static and dynamic tensions and equilibriums are constantly at work in his paintings. His conception of creation, which from an originating chaos succeeds in engendering optical movements in the beholder, carry with it the idea of a “visible dynamics” based on the perception of hues, colours and extents, and on a spatiality which is composed of contrasting perspectives and dimensions. Taking into account the artist’s thinking as well as his interests with regard to phenomena of biological growth and vegetal evolution, this analysis, spanning the bridge between topological syntax and dynamical semantics, attempts to outline a morphodynamic reading of his work in parallel to the latest semiotic approaches in that field.
