Abstract

This work deals with the self-calibration of a high-precision open-loop mechanism. The method is applied to a mechanical shutter for space application, which will be launched onboard the ROSETTA mission (taunch time: February 2004). It is based on an adaptive 'model reference' and a 'randomized' search method that can be generalized to applications where high performances and functionality have strong inter-connections.
