Powder coating constitutes a very interesting class of eco-friendly green coatings since the production process is solvent-free, and therefore the problems associated with the emission of volatile organic compounds are completely absent. Moreover, the polyesters that constitute the main component of powder coatings can be produced using monomers derived from renewable resources and/or recycled polymers. In this chapter, we report the recent advances in the field of eco-friendly green powder coatings, focussing in particular on the use of monomers derived from renewable resources such as isosorbide, succinic acid and glycerol together with the use of recycled polymers such as poly(ethylene terephthalate).
