Integrated Strategy for Sustainable Italy-Malta Transport - Implementing plan

The main purpose of the "Implementing Plan" is to identify strategic actions on the Sicilian and Maltese intermodal nodes, in which it will be appropriate to concentrate joint, or European funding, in the Scandinavian-Mediterranean corridor (corridor 5) of the Trans-European network TEN-T. The Implementing Plan of the STREETS project is the document to support the negotiations of the short-medium and long term actions on the Italian-Maltese transport systems within the 2014-2021 EU budget. The document identifies different technical proposals aimed at improving access of port and airport terminals, increase functionality and safety of the transport networks and their environmental sustainability. Moreover, by adopting specific actions, the Implementing Plan embraces some of the most recent Community guidelines in terms of transport and environmental protection (EU directives and/or communications). The study is based on detailed transport analysis (study of supply and demand) and on SWOT analyses carried out within the STREETS project.
